Dr. Seth A. Eidemiller’s path to becoming a board-certified emergency physician was shaped by his upbringing on a fourth-generation dairy farm in Idaho. From a young age, he learned the importance of responsibility and hard work. These values, instilled early in his life, have carried over into his career, where he is known for his dedication and ability to perform under pressure. The hands-on experience of farming laid the groundwork for his ability to work diligently and think critically, both of which are essential skills in the medical field.


Before entering medicine, Dr. Eidemiller worked in a variety of fields, each one contributing valuable experiences to his journey. He worked as a wildland firefighter for the U.S. Forest Service, learning to remain calm and make quick decisions in high-pressure situations. In construction, he acquired practical skills such as carpentry and electrical work, developing his problem-solving abilities. Additionally, his time spent in restaurants gave him critical interpersonal skills, such as multitasking and effective communication, which proved essential during his medical career.

Academic Pursuits and the Path to Medicine

Dr. Eidemiller’s academic journey began at the University of Idaho, where he earned two bachelor’s degrees in International Studies and Spanish. His interest in these subjects broadened his perspective and helped him build a strong foundation in communication. This skill has proven particularly valuable in his medical practice, as effective communication is crucial in building trust with patients and their families.


After completing his undergraduate studies, Dr. Eidemiller returned to Boise to complete the necessary prerequisites for medical school at Boise State University. During this time, he took chemistry, biology, and anatomy courses, further solidifying his scientific foundation. He also worked as a lab instructor and manager, which provided him with practical experience in teaching and scientific research. He spent three years in biomedical research, focusing on systems biology and human health, further fueling his passion for medicine.

Medical School and Clinical Training

Dr. Eidemiller attended the University of Nevada School of Medicine in Reno, where he began his formal medical education in 2012. Throughout medical school, he completed rotations in various specialties, including pediatrics, psychiatry, surgery, and general medicine. These rotations exposed him to different aspects of patient care and gave him a well-rounded understanding of the medical field.


Upon graduating in 2016, Dr. Eidemiller joined the emergency medicine residency program at UCSF-Fresno, one of California’s busiest emergency departments. This high-acuity environment provided him with invaluable hands-on experience in treating critical conditions such as trauma, cardiac arrest, strokes, and gunshot wounds. He honed his skills in advanced procedures like airway management, resuscitation, central and arterial line placement, and bedside ultrasound, all essential in emergency care.


During his residency, Dr. Eidemiller gained expertise in treating a diverse range of patients, including those who lacked consistent access to healthcare. This experience deepened his commitment to providing compassionate care for underserved communities.

Leadership and Professional Growth

After completing his residency, Dr. Eidemiller joined Mercy Medical Center in Merced, where he continued to develop his emergency medicine skills. In 2020, he joined the Chico Emergency Medicine Physician Group, where his role quickly expanded. Known for his strong communication and organizational skills, he became a key team member, helping coordinate care and improve patient outcomes.


In 2024, he was appointed Vice Chair of the Chico Emergency Medicine Physician Group. Dr. Eidemiller oversees scheduling, operational logistics, staff support, and quality improvement initiatives in this leadership position. Although his administrative responsibilities have grown, he continues to treat patients directly and remains committed to providing high-quality care. He also maintains clinical exposure by moonlighting at Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, where he continues to work in high-pressure environments.

Certifications and Skills

Dr. Eidemiller holds board certification from the American Board of Emergency Medicine and is licensed to practice in California. His clinical expertise includes advanced airway management, line placements, wound care, and procedural sedation. He is known for his calm demeanor, quick decision-making, and effective communication, all of which contribute to his success in high-stress situations.


Fluency in Spanish is another asset for Dr. Eidemiller. It allows him to communicate directly with Spanish-speaking patients and their families, ensuring they receive the best care.

Giving Back to the Community

Throughout his career, Dr. Eidemiller has made time to give back to his community. While living in Boise, he volunteered with Boise State University’s English language program, helping immigrants prepare for job interviews, citizenship exams, and driving tests. He also contributed to maintaining the Ridge to Rivers trail system, ensuring the community could enjoy safe and accessible outdoor spaces.


In his personal life, Dr. Eidemiller enjoys cycling long distances across Northern California, which allows him to stay active and clear his mind. He also enjoys cooking, particularly preparing meals that combine regional Mexican and American flavors. He engages in DIY projects at home, using his construction background to complete home repairs and upgrades.
